WE FEST Fridays is a Go  The Rumors are True  by Jennifer Caslin

Who said a dollar can’t get you anything anymore?

WE Fest (Wilmington Exchange Festival) is expanding from a week long festival in May to WE Fest Friday’s. One Friday a month and for just $1 you can check out a variety of live music along with some other surprises.

Cofounder Kenyata Sullivan says for year’s people have urged him to expand the festival, and now is the time they are finally prepared to do so. “We want to bring new people into the scene, introduce musicians playing different kinds of music to each other, and also help to unite our regional film, art and music communities so they can all learn about and, hopefully, help to support each other.”

The first WE Fest Friday was held in August at the Soapbox, with four floors and five stages of musicians, artists and even a film screening. Each month, you’ll be able to check out musicians from a variety of different genres, backgrounds and locations. Sullivan has high hopes for the expansion of WE Fest, including the possibility of incorporating every venue in Downtown Wilmington. Sullivan’s enthusiasm is palpable, even in an email, “Can you imagine if every month, there was one day you could pay just one dollar cover and get into every venue downtown?  Man, that would rock.” Indeed it would, so show your support!
