From the innocence of his early Jersey rock days, to the influences of old world New Orleans second line, to the clean pine scented Carolina Blues, Rick Tobey and band presents the Cape Fear area with a simmering musical gumbo.  Describing the Chickenhead blues “as a combination of the raw down and dirty flavor of the old blues masters with a touch of sophistication and precision with a bowlful of African rhythm” Tobey and his band are a musical treat that not only feeds the ears, but fills the soul.

Tommy:  See me, Feel Me, Touch me...

 

Unlike musicals, Tommy is an opera and it’s the musicians and their performances that pace the singers and dancers.  “It's rock opera and not a musical in the sense of a plot with dialogue and an occasional song,” explains Ito.   “And so the band provides a continuous sound track for the actors to sing and dance - it’s quite exciting. Once the show begins, the choreography, props, sets, lights are all set, and it’s the band that drives the show.”
